SU - Student grant

SU – The Danish students’ Grants and Loans Scheme

When you turn 18, you might be eligible for the student grants. Until you are 20 years old, your grant depends on your parents’ income. You can see the current SU rates at the www.su.dk site. If you are not a Danish citizen, you must fulfill some special conditions to be placed on equal footing with Danish citizens and receive SU.

Applications take place online at www.su.dk, and you can apply up to a month before your 18th birthday. You will be eligible for SU in the quarter in which you turn 18; January 1st, April 1st, July 1st or October 1st.  For example, if you are eligible for SU for October 1st, you will be able to apply online from September 1st.

In order to apply online, you will need a digital signature called ‘NemID’. You can apply for a MitID through the www.su.dk site. It takes approximately 10 days to receive your MitID. Furthermore, please note that it normally takes 2-4 weeks for your SU application to be processed.
